Tasting - "Mars and Venus Chardonnay"

  • Name: Mars and Venus
  • Variety: Chardonnay
  • Region: La Mancha
  • Country: Spain
  • Year: 2014
  • Price: Regular Price $5.95
  • Vintage Cellar Review: A very nice value Chardonnay that comfortably over-delivers vs. its modest price tag. No oak here, just bushels of clean, crisp, Chardonnay apple and stone fruit with a hint of caramelized pineapple.  Juicy and clean, this is a mid-weight white that's just perfect for parties or weeknight sipping.
  • My review: On the nose this wine was had acidic smells. The overall aroma was very zest with some fruit aromas like peaches along with an earthy smell of hay. On the palate the wine was very tart and acidic. There was a very strong lemon taste that accompanied the wine as it traveled the entire palate. In addition, there was some heat on the finish making this wine overall very hot and dry. Not something that you should consume without food.
  • Food Pairing: I had no food with this wine.
